Sir Henry Cooper Junior Championships – Guidance for Players

Arrival

Please register on arrival at the Competition Office located in the Clubhouse. You must be at your start tee 10 minutes before your tee time.

Local Rules

Out of Bounds

  • The course-side edge of any fence surrounding the course define the boundary of the course.
  • The reservoir to the left of the 1st hole, defined by its own safety fence.

Immovable Obstructions

  • Relief from interference by an immovable obstruction may be taken under Rule 16.1. The player has the following extra option to take relief when such immovable obstructions are close to the putting green and on the line of play:
    • Ball in general area – the player may take relief under Rule 16.1b if an immovable obstruction is:
      • On the line of play, and is:
        • Within two club lengths of the putting green, and
        • Within two club lengths of the ball.
  • The following are deemed immovable obstructions and the player may take relief under Rule 16.1b.
  • The road/path across holes 1, 4, 5, 7, 9, 12, 13, 14, 16 and behind the putting green on 10th.
  • Buggy paths – all concrete Buggy paths
  • All drain grates and irrigation valve boxes

Integral Objects

  • Sleeper walls at holes 6, 7, 8 and 14 are integral objects and free relief may NOT be taken.

Code of Conduct and Pace of Play

  • Players must adhere to the Code of Conduct, which is displayed on the notice board in the Clubhouse. Failure to adhere to the Code of Conduct may result in penalties and disciplinary sanctions.

Insurance and Safety

  • All players are advised to take extra care when going on to the golf course in wet conditions as slopes and steps may be slippery.
  • Everyone is advised to ensure they are adequately insured whilst playing golf. In the interest of safety, please ensure no one is in range, before playing a shot.
  • Be aware of ‘flying golf balls’ whilst on the course. All incidents must be reported to the club management.
  • Play at your own risk including all weather conditions. CCTV in operation for public safety and security.
  • Please note there are permissive bridleways/footpaths that run adjacent to and through the course. There are located to the left of the 2nd and 3rd holes, across the 7th fairway and to the right of the 11th and 12th  There are also neighbouring properties to the right of the 10th and 11th fairways.
  • Please give greenkeeping staff priority on the greens.
  • Replace divots, repair pitch marks and rake bunkers.
  • Children under 12 must be supervised at all times.
  • In case of emergency please download the what3words app on your phone, this gives you a precise location for emergency services.

Scoring

  • You will be asked to provide your score for your first 9 holes at the competition office located in the Clubhouse when you reach the turn.

Guidance

  • Ensure that you only take guidance for rulings from a referee and nobody else. If you need a referee, please ask one or the marshals or ball spotters on the course.
  • If play is suspended for any reason, there will be a long note sounded by klaxon. Follow severe weather policy displayed on the Clubhouse noticeboard.
  • The flags are not colour coded. Pin sheets will be issued for each round of golf. These can be collected from the competition office.
  • Key ‘Ready Golf’ Rules:
  • Stay within one shot of the group in front of you.
  • Hit when ready and safe.
  • Mark your score on the way to the next tee, or while your partners are playing their tee shot.

Pace of Play

Groups are expected to keep up with the group in front. Please play a provisional ball if there is any doubt as to whether a ball is in play or not.

Kings Hill Golf Club, Kent extends a warm welcome as it proudly plays host to the prestigious Sir Henry Cooper Junior Championships. Nestled amidst picturesque landscapes, the club opens its doors to the young and talented golfers under the age of 18, creating an inviting atmosphere for both players and spectators alike.

Set in over 200 acres of undulating terrain, Kings Hill Golf Club features large areas of protected heath and mature woodland. The 6,600 yard par 72 golf course has been built to the highest specifications, with USGA standard greens and tees.

Practice facilities include a full length practice range, a short game practice area and putting green.
